Not-so-updated Update
Sorry for disappearing for 2 days (and not blogging). On Monday night I was at a concert (by the Ngee Ann Concert Band) at the Victoria Concert Hall. And on Tuesday night I was at a family chalet.
Before I talk about the previous nights, first an assessment of this year's Crimbo.
No. of Xmas Presents: 1
No. of Xmas Cards: 12
Thanks Kyo, for the wonderful present (2 dolls of opposite sexes in a kissing position and stuck together. v sweet. the guy's pants can be removed. tried removing the girl's, but failed as hands were stuck to guy's head.). I can now act out those wonderful poses and techniques shown in certain scenes in Love Actually. =D It looks cuter everytime I see it. Oh and I have VERY CLEVERLY (in my own opinion) placed them in a strategic (read: nice and dark and cosy) place on my bookshelf so that they can make out in peaceful peace and relative comfort. =) I love it!
Thanks everyone who sent me a card, how very sweet of you and you will probably get an ang pow card back from me. =D No promises though. There are only SO MANY brilliantly red (as much as I like the color) cards you can choose from and look at without, quite literally, seeing red.
Found out something on Monday. Felt...very overwhelmed at first, very pleasantly surprised. My mind was in a whirl. How could it be? How could it be ME? There are so many better girls in class. Sarah is 10 times prettier than me. Sonia is 100 times sweeter, cuter, kinder. Jawei smarter, better in pretty much every way. Sharina with her childish innocence. Sabby with her elegance and beauty. Flora with her funny page-flipping habit. Becky and her attractively slow responses. Jasmine with her shiny personality. Jesslin with her irritatingly flawless complexion. Mei Hui with her obsession with 5566. Jia Ying with her wonderful sense of humour and cuteness. I now understand the true meaning of liking someone "just the way she is". I'm still confused about my feelings though. So...give me time, everyone. I know u all are very excited and anxious to see new developments. Haha. And. If I see another "love is in the air" in ur blogs/nicks again I will STRANGLE all of you to death, you hear?
Concert
I was appalled at the audience. A bunch of them at the back in the middle row were very rowdy, shouting out their friends' (who were in the band) names. It was more like a pop concert than a more classical-music-inclined one (I'm not sure if the music they played was classical) in that way. They shouted and shouted and didn't want to stop. So some people got annoyed and a guy sitting behind us (my friends and I, one of whom treated me to this concert) shouted "KB lar!". I was appalled, like I said. They were throwing their OWN faces as well as destroying the atmosphere and reputation and everything of Victoria Concert Hall as well as their own school. Tsk tsk...
It was my first visit to Victoria Concert Hall, and also the first time I was watching this kind of concert. Well, the hall they booked (dunno if there's more than one) wasn't really new...it looked kinda rundown and the seats were rather hard. All in all, not what I expected. I thought it was a really grand place with plush seats. It does look grand, but just a little rundown.
The concert was okay, if a bit too drawn out. I really listened to the first two songs (which I thought was rather good. their coordination was a bit off throughout the whole concert, though), after which my attention faltered as I was really very sleepy. During the second song (I think), which had four movements, the audience started clapping after the second movement (don't think one is supposed to). Haha. It really didn't feel like I was watching a concert in a place of such class as Victoria Concert Hall. The appalling audience spoilt it all. But I am very thankful to YP for paying for me to come to the concert. Too bad she didn't perform in the end.
After the "last" song on the programme, the conductor walked off, and -get this- the BAND ITSELF started shouting "ENCORE". Sure, the rowdy crowd was shouting encore too, but I had a sneaking suspicion that it was PLANNED AND PLANTED. And who shouts for their own encores?! Maybe it's common practice, but it's weird to me. So eventually the conductor made a show of walking back to the stage and doing...1 or 2 more songs, I forget.
Rushed home after that. I had my econs tutorial and IDEA model to complete.
Family Chalet
Reached there at about 8 pm on Tuesday night. Settled down to eat almost immediately as I was sooo hungry. I'm always hungry nowadays. Helped myself to all the bbqed food and noodles and rice. And veggies (haha it's so weird to have veggies among all the other bbqed food. but it's healthy, so I ate lots of it.) Halfway throughout my "feasting", the lights went out. But there was still some light from somewhere so I continued eating, pretty much unfazed. Yes I was THAT hungry. Turned out to be a short circuit, if u're interested to know. Watched tv after eating. At 9 plus my cousin Hui Qi turned up, so I talked to her after she'd finished eating. She left before 10 pm. After she'd left, there was no more space to sit (no place where I could see the tv screen anyway) as my cousins and their girlfriends had arrived and I politely gave up my seat to one of them. I was getting bored with the programme anyway. So I went to sit with my other cousin Patsy (she is fourteen, same as my 2nd brother Ken). I elbowed her and said "Eh when's your turn?" (in manner of aunts at weddings), eyeing the couples. Hahaha.
After that I went out to sit on the bench and think. JN called me to ask about IDEAs. Then I called BK out of boredom and chatted wif her until my phone battery was low. I wanted to go home and sleep (v tired and slightly bored), but my mother had to help clear the bbq pits and all. My uncle offered me Tiger like 5 times. Even though I kept saying "I am underage", albeit in a laughing tone. Ended up reaching home at about 11.40 when I had to wake up at 6 am for school the next day.
Yesterday
Had WP (which was quite fun), then IPRA tutorial (which was super boring as usual). Decided to go to Toa Payoh library as I got onto the bus after dismissal. I paid all my fines (finally got a cashcard), then went to hunt for the books I like. Found none. It was really rotten luck. I couldn't even find a comic I liked, which is very rare. So I borrowed a book from a series I'd never read before (I saw Sonia reading it once and she seemed pretty interested in it) and 3 self-help books. 2 about happiness and 1 about the software we're using in WP (Macromedia Studio MX for Dummies. I couldn't find Dreamweaver MX for Dummies so I borrowed the entire compiled book of all the Macromedia software for dummies. It is bloody heavy as it is 7 books combined in one. I am mad, I know.) Lots of books on depression, maybe they can help some of my friends.
Today
Lectures all day long. Boring boring. After school I didn't feel like going home as the rest of my family was probably still at the chalet and my dad was probably still chasing balls around in buggies on golf courses.
So I went with Jia Ying to the main library to watch a dvd. We watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It's quite funny, though at some parts I almost dropped off as I was v tired and the storyline is pretty devoid of climaxes. And none of the leads were cute. But we had a good time anyway. With Garfield it is ALWAYS a good time.
Having a new year's day party tomorrow at Ryan's place. And in case a tsunami really does strike again (choy!!!) and we will definitely kena as Ryan's place is at East Coast, I love all of you very much. My family and my friends. This natural disaster really has taught me how precious life is. 100,000 feared dead. 70,000 confirmed dead. More than 70,000 relatives and friends, mourning for their loved ones. Never being able to see them again. We are so, so lucky.
